Penny
|
Penny spent her early years studying drama and improvisation, but in her mid-twenties found herself compelled to explore the world of dance. She trained for three years in belly dance which gave her a strong knowledge of muscle isolations and how to use them to emphasise movement and create visual impact.
In 2014, Penny began learning burlesque with Courtney L'amour. Here she found a haven where she could express herself, make friends with like-minded people and goof around without being frowned upon. Penny now works as a teacher and studio administrator at Studio L'amour and is also a stage manager for various productions around Wellington. Despite being laughably ungraceful and cursed with short hamstrings, Penny has plans to infiltrate Ballet and Contemporary dance classes at some point. Her mission is to learn the ways of those unfathomably bendy people. You will find Penny flailing around in pole fitness most evenings of the week and is attempting to become competent in aerial silks, lyra & trapeze. She's also hoping to have a crack at fire-dancing, much to everyone's dismay. |
